Privacy policy
This policy covers the Apna Shishya app and website (for students and parents), the Apna Guru app and website (for teachers and coaching centres), and theskool.ai. They are run by Stenark Solutions Private Limited, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India (“we”). Questions: apnischool2026@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account details. When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address and profile photo. We never see your Google password.
- Profile details you enter. Students: class, board, school and subjects. Teachers and centres: name, phone number, centre details, batches and the students you add.
- Learning activity. Questions attempted, answers, scores, streaks, study time and the groups you join. We use it to show progress and to prepare SWOT and practice suggestions.
- Teaching records (Apna Guru). Attendance, fees, announcements, tests and feedback that teachers record for their students.
- Payments. Subscriptions are paid through Razorpay. Razorpay handles your card, UPI or bank details; we only receive the order, amount and payment status.
- Technical data. Basic server logs to run the service and stop abuse (time of request, IP address, app version, errors).
Questions read aloud in Listen use your phone’s own text-to-speech; the audio is not sent to us. We do not use advertising SDKs and do not show ads.
How we use it
- To run your account, sign you in and keep your progress across phone and web.
- To unlock subjects you have paid for and to apply teacher discount codes.
- To connect a student with their teacher and parent: when you join a teacher’s batch or link an Apna Guru account, the teacher sees your progress and announcements reach you.
- To prepare learning insights such as monthly SWOT notes.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
We do not sell your personal data.
Who we share it with
- Your teacher or coaching centre, when you connect with them.
- Google, for sign-in.
- Razorpay, to process payments.
- Our hosting provider (DigitalOcean, servers in Bangalore, India), which stores the data on our behalf.
- An AI service provider, if used to draft learning insights. It receives learning data without your name or email.
- Authorities, only when the law requires it.
How we protect it
Data travels over HTTPS. Personal details such as names, emails and phone numbers are encrypted in our database. Only staff who need access to run the service have it.
Children
Apna Shishya is built for school students aged 13 and above, many of whom are under 18. A parent or guardian should agree to their child using the app. Teachers who add students in Apna Guru confirm they have the parent’s permission. Parents can ask us to see, correct or delete a child’s data at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account we delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except payment records we must keep by law (up to 8 years).
